A 13-year-old boy has been seriously assaulted by two men on waste ground in Glasgow, police said.

The incident happened at about 2200 BST on Thursday night on an area close to Westerhouse Road in Easterhouse.

The boy had been with a friend, who ran away and was unhurt. The victim is in a stable condition after suffering injuries to his head and hands.

The suspects were described as being in their late teens and between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 11ins, wearing a dark clothing.

Detective Constable Chris McGhee, of Easterhouse Police Office, appealed for witnesses, in particular two girls around 14 years of age who may have seen the assault.

He said: "Both females are around 5ft 1in and of medium build.

"One had blonde hair with darker highlights which was worn in a ponytail and was wearing a grey tracksuit.

"The second girl had shoulder-length brown hair and was wearing dark-coloured clothes.

"I would ask these girls to contact my office as a matter of urgency."
