Scotland's international rugby team has thrown its weight behind a new campaign to raise awareness about May's Holyrood and local government elections.

Squad members urged all eligible voters to make sure they are registered by 18 April so they can vote on polling day.

Two elections will be held on 3 May - one to elect MSPs to the Scottish Parliament and the other to choose councillors for Scotland's 32 councils.

As part of the VoteScotland campaign, a new website has been set up.

<a class="bodl" href="/1/hi/scotland/6342905.stm">'Politicians need a new mindset'</a>

It gives information on how to register, how to vote and how the different voting systems work.

The joint campaign by the Scottish Executive and the Electoral Commission aims to encourage participation in the elections.

Scotland's most capped forward, Scott Murray, said: "It's your country. Make sure your voice is heard."
