The three had followed the man back from a bus stop in London before forcing their way in to his flat and demanding cash.

Police said the older girls, believed to be 17 and 19, pushed the man into the bedroom of the flat in Newton Grove, Chiswick.

The victim suffered shock, but did not need medical treatment.

A police spokeswoman said the elderly man had become aware of the suspects, and the young girl, as he reached his flat on Tuesday evening.

"He opened the door where the two women pushed him inside, took him into the bedroom and asked him for money," she said.

"When he gave them a small amount of cash they left the premises."

The older girls are understood to have mousy-coloured hair and the girl, aged about five, has blonde hair.
