The 10-year-old was walking with a 15-year-old friend in Mullion when a man grabbed him and tried to drag him into a car on Wednesday. Police said the boy fought back by lashing out with a newspaper he was carrying. He was shocked but unhurt. The man is described as aged between 20 and 30, of slim build, about 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, with short brown hair. The attempted abduction happened between 1700 and 1725 GMT on the B3296 near Mullion fire station. A police spokesman said: "As the pair walked along the road, a man driving what is believed to be a blue Vauxhall Cavalier stopped and got out of the car. "The man approached the boy and, grabbing him by the arm and collar of his jacket, attempted to drag him into the car." Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident. |
