On Tuesday, Mr. Adams confirmed that he reached out to then-Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro about the opening of the consulate building, but he said that it was a routine part of his job.
“This is what we do every day,” he said at a news conference. “You reach out to an agency and ask them to look into a matter. You don’t reach out to an agency to compel them to do anything.”
