Version 0 of 1.

A man who travelled at almost 60mph for 2.2 miles with his hands behind his head has been sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to community service.

Hossein Aramoon, 30, of Kennishead Avenue, Glasgow, admitted driving dangerously on the A8 between Glasgow Road and Maybury Road, in Edinburgh.

He was ordered to perform 120 hours' community service and disqualified from driving for two years.

Traffic officers video-recorded the driver without his hands on the wheel.

The offence happened on 19 February, 2005.

Sheriff Gordon Liddle said: "He just can't explain why he drove for two miles putting the public at risk.

"What you have pled guilty to is being in control of a motor vehicle, which was not only speeding on a public road, but in relation to which you drove for more than two miles with neither hand on the steering wheel."
