The partner of a widow found dead at her home more than a year ago has been charged with her murder. The long-term partner of a widow found dead at her home more than a year ago has appeared in court charged with her murder.
The body of 65-year-old Joyce Sutton was discovered at her house in Winifred Road, Skewen, near Neath, on the morning of 11 January, 2006. David Henton, 71, appeared before Swansea magistrates on Wednesday, more than a year after Joyce Sutton, 65, was found dead at Skewen in January 2006.
She had suffered serious head injuries during an attack. Mr Henton, of Parc Wern in Neath, spoke to confirm his name and date of birth.
David Henton, 71, was charged by South Wales Police on Tuesday and will appear before Swansea Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. He was released on bail with the condition that he lives at an address in Devon.
Officers had made a new appeal for information on the anniversary of Mrs Sutton's death. The case was adjourned until 9 February when Mr Henton will reappear at Swansea Crown Court.
