The Norwich Union insurance company, committed to outsourcing work to India, has brought back 150 jobs to the UK.

UK staff will deal with household insurance claims, executive pensions and hire of vehicles after accidents.

The Norwich-based firm denied jobs returned to the UK because of communication difficulties between customers and Indian staff.

A spokeswoman said it was part of a restructuring that saw jobs moving backwards and forwards constantly.

She said: "It's not because we are unhappy with the outsourcing process.

"We now have 7,800 staff outside the UK and there is a constant shift of work backwards and forwards."

She said the company regarded the process as successful.
