A 77-year-old man was threatened with being shot and was tied to a radiator during a robbery at a GAA club, the High Court has been told.

Three men deny being involved in the robbery at Eire Og GAA club in Tullygally, Craigavon, last week.

One of them, Christopher Carlisle, 24, of Lakeview Court, Drumgor, applied for compassionate bail to attend his sister's wedding on Wednesday.

Lord Chief Justice Sir Declan Morgan refused the application.

He said he did so because "I have no confidence the applicant would adhere to the terms of bail".

Prosecution barrister Philip Henry said three masked men, one carrying a sawn-off shotgun, got away with £9,000 in the hold-up.

Mr Henry said the shotgun was pointed at the face of the 77-year-old man who was threatened and ordered to open two safes containing the money.

"His hands were tied behind his back and his bound wrists were then tied to a radiator," he said.

The elderly man's ordeal ended after an hour and a half when a member of staff arrived and cut him free.
