The number of serious crime incidents recorded in Northern Ireland is on the increase, according to the latest statistics.

Among these, listed on the PSNI's crime statistics website, are assaults and incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Since last April, there have been nearly 84,000 reported crimes in Northern Ireland.

Of these more than 1,000 were complaints of sexual offences and nearly 4,500 were domestic burglaries.

Complaints of criminal damage also account for nearly a quarter of this total.

The lowest number of incidents were reported in Ballymoney, Moyle and Cookstown.

The highest number was recorded in south and north Belfast, followed by Foyle and Lisburn.

In the past eight months alone, in South Belfast, there have been nearly 2,500 reported incidents of assaults, sexual offences and robberies.
