George Downie, watch manager at Aberdeen Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, said: "We are co-ordinating the search for the missing man who is believed to be in the water. Several boats in the area also helped in the search.
"We have a Nimrod in the area coordinating two other aircraft and there are seven surface vessels assisting."
