Version 0 of 1.

A senior police official accused of rape has told a court the sex he had with the alleged victim was "vigorous and consensual".

Gregory Jones, 39, head of personnel at South Wales Police, said at the end of 30 minutes of "rough sex", the woman asked him: "Is that it?"

Swansea Crown Court has heard the woman had bruising in 24 places on her body.

Mr Jones, of Sketty, Swansea, denies three charges of rape and one of assault causing actual bodily harm.

He met the woman at a bar in Swansea in September when he was out celebrating a friend's 40th birthday.

Mr Jones and a friend had paired off with the alleged victim and her female friend at the end of the evening, the court has been told.

She invited the rough element of the sex - she invited it and never said no once Gregory Jones

The foursome had taken a taxi to the Swansea home of the alleged victim's friend, where the woman said she was raped.

Mr Jones told the court on Wednesday that he and the woman had "consensual" sex three times at the friend's house.

Under cross-examination from Dyfed Thomas, prosecuting, Mr Jones agreed that the term "rough sex" could be used to describe what they did together.

He said that several falls during the last time they had sex could explain the bruising.

Mr Jones said: "She invited the rough element of the sex. She invited it and never said no once."

He said that afterwards she had asked: "Is that it?"

Mr Jones told the court: "I suppose she was a little disappointed. I did not react in any way. I just ignored it."

'Kissing and cuddling'

The pair shared a taxi home, which the woman paid for when it stopped at her home first, the court heard.

The following morning, Jones received a call from the police informing him there had been a complaint from the woman about the previous evening.

He had immediately said: "Oh my God. If you are talking about last night, everything was consensual."

The woman has admitted kissing and cuddling Mr Jones in a car, but said she made it clear it would not go further.

She has also denied lying about the alleged rape to explain away her appearance to her boyfriend.

The trial continues.
