Version 0 of 1.

A man who prompted an international search after going on holiday unaware that he had a broken neck, is safe.

Benjamin O'Connor, 29, of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, went to hospital after being hurt in a road accident on Saturday, but was released.

Doctors later examined his X-rays, which showed he had broken his neck, but were unable to contact Mr O'Connor as he had flown to Holland.

On Monday, Suffolk Police discovered he was in Amsterdam and alerted Interpol.

An Amsterdam police spokeswoman said he was "in danger of serious injury or death".

They published his photo, hoping someone would recognise him and ask him to contact police and seek immediate medical treatment.

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said that Mr O'Connor is safe, but gave no further details about his return.

She said: "We have been informed that Mr O'Connor has returned to his home.

"He is currently in the process of seeking treatment for his injuries at a local hospital."

A member of Mr O'Connor's family at his home in Bury St Edmunds said: "He's back. He's fine.

"He has been checked out at the hospital and we don't want to talk about it any further."
