Bay search follows plane reports Bay search treated as false alarm

A search is under way in Dundalk Bay in the Republic of Ireland after reports that a light aircraft has come down off the Carlingford Peninsula. A search in Dundalk Bay in the Republic of Ireland has been called off.
The Irish Coastguard was alerted to the incident at about 2020 BST on Wednesday. It followed reports that a light aircraft had come down off the Carlingford Peninsula.
The Coastguard helicopter is involved in the operation and the Clogherhead lifeboat is expected to join them. Dublin Coastguard, which was co-ordinating the search, said that they were treating the report as a false alarm.
On the shore, the Clogherhead Coastguard unit and Drogheda Coastguard unit are helping with the search. The Irish Coastguard helicopter was involved in the search operation as well as a number of shore units.
