Hundreds of thousands of workers have been taking part in strikes or are planning to do so. Hundreds of thousands of workers have been taking part in strikes over pay.
The disputes are mostly over pay, with unions calling for wage rises to keep up with rising prices. However, some agreements have been reached, including a pay settlement for more than a million NHS staff in England.
However, strikes by NHS staff could soon come to an end, thanks to a vote by members of the GMB union to accept the NHS's latest pay offer.
