At the height of the flash flooding in Cupar, 12 fire appliances about 60 firefighters were providing assistance and advice in the area.
Nine people were helped to safety after they became trapped in the annexe of Castlehill Primary School and another three people were freed after becoming stuck in their vehicles.
Colin Grieve, from Fife Fire and Rescue Service, said: "The initial calls were in quick succession with around 30 calls to separate premises in Cupar within 45 minutes.
"This had a heavy impact on resources and mobilising within the Fife area and all of Fife's appliances have been used at some point during the day."
