Boxer accused of attempted murder

Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kenny Anderson, 26, appeared in private from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court accused of attacking David Togher. Mr Anderson is alleged to have repeatedly punched Mr Togher on the head, and to have repeatedly struck him with a hammer in Hay Drive on 23 June. He made no plea and was remanded in custody. The case was continued for further examination. Mr Anderson, from Edinburgh, is the reigning Commonwealth Games light heavyweight champion after winning gold at the Melbourne games in 2006. He turned professional following his amateur success. |
