Four police motorcyclists escorted the cortege carrying Miss Ward's coffin to Oakham's All Saints Church. | |

'Caring support' | |
About 150 people attended the service, conducted by vicar of Oakham Rev Lee Francis-Dehuani. | |
In a message included on the order of service, Miss Ward's family said: "Thank you for coming today to share our thanksgiving for Melissa's life. | |
"Your cards, messages of support and sympathy have been invaluable and we have been touched by the caring support of Leicestershire Police. | |
"Melissa was a loving and compassionate person who won the hearts of everyone she met and she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and colleagues." | |
Rutland and North Leicestershire coroner Trevor Kirkman has opened and adjourned inquests into the two deaths. |
