Man killed in quad bike accident

A 23-year-old man has died following a quad bike accident in County Londonderry, police have said.

He was Brendan McGurk from Castle Gardens in Limavady. The accident happened on Saturday just after 1400 GMT on the Nessa Road in the town.

No other vehicle was involved. The road was closed for a time after the accident but has since re-opened.

His death brings to four the number of people who have died on Northern Ireland's roads so far this year.

In the same period in 2006 five people lost their lives. A total of 125 people died in road accidents here last year.
