Two hundred mourners have gathered for the funeral of a 21-year-old pregnant woman who was stabbed to death while on her way to work in Grimsby.

During the ceremony, which was held at Grimsby Crematorium, Claire Wilson was described as a "unique individual" who made a "lasting impact" on all she met.

Miss Wilson, who was seven months pregnant, was stabbed in the back on Pasture Street on 7 June.

Her unborn baby also died in the incident, police later revealed.

Miss Wilson's partner, Adam Kennard, carried two white roses for her funeral.

Lee Grant, who conducted the service, said Miss Wilson's family wanted to "share wonderful experiences and memories of the person Claire was".

The funeral was held as a celebration of her life, with a silver hearse and mourners carrying brightly coloured flowers.

Claire Wilson was described as "full of life and laughter"

Speaking before the funeral Mr Grant, an independent funeral celebrant, said he hoped to convey Miss Wilson's life as being "full of laughter and enjoyment".

He said Miss Wilson had been "ready to start a new chapter, ready to settle down and build a happy and full life" with her partner Adam and her unborn baby daughter, who they had named April.

He added: "It is so sad that all that anticipation of such a life isn't going to be realised now."

Mr Grant said that Miss Wilson's father had "had his faith in humanity restored" by the people of Grimsby who had come together at news of his daughter's death.

Miss Wilson was walking to work at Pizza Hut when she was stabbed.

Alan McMullan, 53, from Grimsby, has been charged with her murder.
