Officials will look at whether a Welsh judge has been involved in a breach of discipline after allegations appeared in a tabloid Sunday newspaper. The Office for Judicial Complaints said Judge Gerald Price QC had volunteered information about claims over his private life to senior judiciary. The senior circuit judge, aged 60, is usually based in Swansea but also hears cases in Cardiff and Carmarthen. He has held the £128,296 position since 2000. A spokesman for the Judicial Communications Office said Judge Price was not currently hearing cases. "Having been approached by the press, Judge Price has voluntarily provided a detailed account of the circumstances to the senior judiciary," he added. "The matter has been referred to the Office for Judicial Complaints to consider whether there has been a breach of discipline. "We do not comment on the private lives of the judiciary." The allegations about the married judge were made in the News of the World. |
