Police have revisited the scene of the murder of Edinburgh man Mark Johnston in an effort to find new witnesses. The 31-year-old was seriously assaulted in Haddington Place, Leith, on Sunday 14 June. He died in hospital on Monday. The attack happened between 0300 BST and 0400 BST, and officers were present at the scene at that time on Sunday. Two men have been remanded in custody over the incident. Two women have also appeared in court - one was released, the other is to appear later. A police spokesman said the purpose of the visit was to see if there were any motorists or passers-by in the area who may have been in the vicinity of Haddington Place in the early hours of the previous Sunday morning. In a statement after his death, Mr Johnston's family and partner Pauline said: "Mark was the second eldest of four children and his death has been devastating to us all. "He was a loving father, partner, son, brother and uncle. Like any young man, Mark loved football, and was a keen fan. "His loss in such tragic and sudden circumstances has been a shock to us all, but we hold in our hearts the happy memories of such a loving, family man." Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police or Crimestoppers. |
