Boy pulled from river 'critical'

A six-year-old boy was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being pulled from a river in Suffolk.

Police were called to the river by Ballingdon Bridge, Sudbury, at about 1920 BST after reports that a boy had been seen in the water.

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said the boy was recovered from the river and had been taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

The area near the riverbank has been cordoned off while inquiries continue.
