Three face court on murder charge Three charged with man's murder
(about 11 hours later)
Three men in their 20s have been charged with murdering a man in County Antrim. There were angry scenes at Lisburn court as abuse was shouted at three men charged with murdering Darren Roberts.
Darren Roberts, 20, from the Lisburn area, was attacked and stabbed on Millbrook Road in the city at about 0200 BST on Saturday, 13 June. Mr Roberts, 20, was stabbed at Millbrook Road, Lisburn on Saturday.
The three men are aged 20, 21 and 23 years old. The 20-year-old man also faces a charge of assaulting a teenager injured in the same attack. Diarmaid Paul Anderson, 19, of Peel Gardens, Ballinderry and Stephen Allister, 21, Rushmore Crescent, Lisburn were accused of his murder.
The three men are expected to appear before court in Lisburn later. A solicitor for David Curran, 23, of South Link, Andersonstown, who is also charged with the murder, said his client strongly denied it.
Mr Allister also faces a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to another teenager.
Under cross examination from Mr Curran's defence lawyer, the detective confirmed that prosecution witnesses said Mr Curran was not involved in the actual physical attack. He said the charge was based on "joint venture".
As the three men were led from the dock, abuse was shouted at them from the public gallery.
One man tried to get into the dock but was restrained by police officers who led him out of court.
