Missing islander in 'altercation'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/scotland/north_east/8096665.stm Version 0 of 1. A major search for a man missing from an Orkney island for several days is continuing. Robert Rose, 54, from Sanday, has not been seen since Saturday. Some locals have said they fear the worst, and that they were baffled. There were unconfirmed reports of him having an altercation on the island. Northern Constabulary said they had no reason to suspect foul play. Door-to-door inquiries are being carried out, and outbuildings and sheds searched. Mr Rose left a local bar on Saturday afternoon where he was said to be a regular customer. Missed appointment Friends described him as a man of habit, who enjoyed a drink and game of chess. They said his animals, including alpacas, were the centre of his life, and a missed appointment with a vet on Monday set alarm bells ringing. Northern Constabulary said Mr Rose is about 5ft 8in tall, slim, with a ruddy complexion. He has short grey hair that is balding. He was last seen wearing dark boots, light blue jeans and a green body warmer. He speaks with an English accent. Coastguards, the RNLI and a police dog section have been assisting the search. |
