(about 1 hour later) | |
A major inquiry has been launched into the "suspicious" death of a man found in an Aberdeen street.
The body of the local man - believed to be in his 30s - was found by a member of the public in Balnagask Terrace, in Torry, at about 2115 BST on Tuesday.
The area was closed off for forensic officers to examine the scene and door-to-door inquiries were being made.
Det Ch Insp Phil Chapman said efforts were being made to identify the man involved and notify his next of kin.
Fifty officers | |
He said: "Police were contacted regarding concern for a male found lying near the entrance to a block of flats.
"He was conveyed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
"A major investigation is under way and is at its very early stages. The location outside the building is being treated as a crime scene and is subject to a full forensic examination."
About 50 uniformed and detective officers are working on the investigation.
Det Ch Insp Chapman appealed for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to get in touch.
A post-mortem examination is to be carried out on Wednesday. |
