Man remanded on hijacking charges

Christopher Connors, 31, of Downs Road, Newcastle, was charged in Newry Magistrates Court with nine offences. He faced three hijacking charges, one of robbery, attempted hijacking, false imprisonment, threat to kill, assault and assault causing actual bodily harm. He made no reply or no comment to all the charges at the hearing and spoke only to confirm his name. A constable told the court that four witnesses had failed to pick him out of an identity parade and confirmed that no forensic evidence was currently available. Mr Connors was remanded in custody to appear by video link on 18 October. |
