Ms Sotomayor sustained the injury after tripping at La Guardia airport in New York, while on her way to Washington DC for a series of meetings with senators. She will still be able to attend the meetings, the White House said. Ms Sotomayor's nomination needs to be approved by a majority in the US Senate before she can take up her seat on the court. She is holding meetings with key senators ahead of the vote to discuss her judicial philosophy and persuade them to back her nomination. If approved, Ms Sotomayor would become the first Hispanic justice on the Supreme Court. |
