Firefighters were called to the blaze at the YHA Cambridge Youth Hostel in Tenison Road on Saturday night. Fire crews led three people to safety - and they were treated in hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation. The fire, which seriously damaged the building, is believed to have been deliberate. Anyone with information is asked to call Cambridgeshire Police. Four fire engines were called to the blaze, which was brought under control shortly after 1900 BST. Det Sgt Chris Tatum-Horsfield, of Cambridgeshire Police, said: "We believe the fire was started on the second floor in suspicious circumstances. "Thankfully the emergency services were alerted quickly and no-one was seriously injured, but it could have been a lot worse." |
