A man has been charged with the murder of a 63-year-old woman in Shropshire. A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a 63-year-old chimney sweep in Shropshire.
Police said Margaret Wycherley, who was found dead in her home in Oswestry on Tuesday, was a chimney sweep and window cleaner who was well-known in the area. Ginatautas Psenaska, 44, is accused of killing his former landlady Margaret Wycherley, who was found at her home in Castle Street, Oswestry.
A 44-year-old man, arrested in Shrewsbury on Wednesday, is due before Shrewsbury Magistrates' Court on Saturday accused of her murder. She was found with a ligature around her neck and had suffered "significant" injuries, Samantha Morgan, prosecuting, told Shrewsbury magistrates.
A post-mortem examination established that Mrs Wycherley, who lived in Castle Street, died of multiple injuries. Mr Psenaska, a Lithuanian national, was remanded in custody until 15 June.
He is due to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on that date.
Ms Wycherley worked as a chimney sweep and window cleaner and was well known in the area.
