A man has been arrested after being found lying on the tracks of a busy railway line in the east of Scotland. A man has been jailed after he was found lying drunk on the tracks of a busy railway line.
Officers from British Transport Police removed the man from the line at Leuchars Railway Station in Fife on Wednesday afternoon. Hugh Milne, 46, from Aberdeen, was discovered on the East Coast main line at Leuchars Railway Station in Fife on Wednesday afternoon.
The alarm was raised after the man, from Aberdeen, was spotted by staff. He was removed by officers from the British Transport police (BTP) after being spotted by station staff.
A British Transport Police spokesman said station staff at Leuchars reported him lying on the East Coast Main Line at the north end of a platform. He admitted causing a breach of the peace when he appeared at Cupar Sheriff Court and was jailed for 30 days.
The spokesman added: "Officers attended and assisted in recovering him from the line. A BTP spokesman said he was reported lying on the East Coast Main Line at the north end of a platform.
"He was arrested and charged and held in custody." The spokesman added: "Officers attended and assisted in recovering him from the line."
A 46-year-old man was expected to appear at Cupar Sheriff Court.
