A couple have been left badly shocked during an early morning hijacking in Newry.

They were in a car at Benish Viewpoint car park at 0020 BST on Saturday when two masked men smashed a side window and dragged the male driver out.

One of the hijackers held a knife to his throat before taking money from him.

The woman was pushed to the ground and her handbag taken before the robbers drove off in the car.

A police spokesperson said the driver suffered a minor injury to his arm.
