Linfield captain William 'Winkie' Murphy is expected before a court in Madrid later accused of passing counterfeit money in Spain.

Mr Murphy, 35, has been held in Spain for two weeks after being arrested in Torremolinos while on a stag weekend.

The charges relate to 2007 when he was detained for allegedly passing counterfeit notes, but was released and returned home.

The offence carries a minimum jail term of eight years.
