Custody battle returns to court Misbah parents 'reach settlement'
(about 4 hours later)
Lawyers for the parents of a schoolgirl at the centre of an international custody battle have returned to court. The schoolgirl at the centre of an international custody battle is to remain in Pakistan after her parents reached a settlement, says her father.
Twelve-year-old Misbah Rana, also known as Molly Campbell, left her mother's Scottish home last August to live with her father, Sajad Rana, in Pakistan. Misbah Rana, 12, left her mother Louise Campbell's home in Scotland for her father Sajad Rana's home in Lahore six months ago.
It had been thought a settlement would be reached on Wednesday, but Mr Rana rejected a request to allow Misbah to return to Scotland for holidays. Mr Rana said it has been agreed that his former wife will visit their daughter in Pakistan at his expense.
The case resumed at the Supreme Court in Islamabad on Thursday. Misbah said she was "really, really happy" with the settlement.
The lawyer for Misbah's mother, Louise Campbell, said the schoolgirl had been taken to Pakistan in an unlawful manner. Outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad where the protracted legal case concerning the girl was called on Thursday, Mr Rana said terms of Ms Campbell's access to the youngster had been settled.
It was argued that the 12-year-old should be handed to the British High Commission within seven days and returned to Scotland. I'm glad I can stay in Pakistan and get on with my life Misbah Rana

The lawyer also denied that Ms Campbell had reconverted to Christianity. Misbah said: "I'm really, really happy that I can stay in Pakistan now.
Mr Rana's legal representatives argued that Molly's wish to remain in Pakistan should be taken into account. "I'm glad I can stay in Pakistan and get on with my life."
Last week, Ms Campbell offered to drop her claim for full custody of her daughter if Misbah was allowed to visit her in Scotland.
However, the out-of-court settlement was rejected by Mr Rana, who claimed that his daughter would be prevented from returning to him in Pakistan if she went to the UK.
Ms Campbell, who lives in the Western Isles, had been granted interim custody of her daughter by the Court of Session in Edinburgh last June.Ms Campbell, who lives in the Western Isles, had been granted interim custody of her daughter by the Court of Session in Edinburgh last June.
