A man has been jailed for life and his father for four years over a fatal knife attack in Glasgow.

Steven Taylor, 32, was found guilty of murdering Scott McAuslan in Craigie Street in the Govanhill area of the city's south side in August last year.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Taylor was ordered to serve a minimum of 16 years before being eligible for parole.

Lord Malcolm jailed his father Thomas Taylor, 56, for the lesser charge of culpable homicide.

The court heard how it had been alleged that Mr McAuslan had assaulted Thomas Taylor shortly before the fatal attack on him.

'Vicious execution'

The father and son then chased their victim before kicking him as he lay on the ground.

Steven Taylor then repeatedly stabbed Mr McAuslan on the neck and body.

Passing sentence, Lord Malcolm told Taylor junior: "Your callous and vicious execution of Mr McAuslan was a tragedy not only for him, but also for his family and friends.

"This case is yet another example of the dreadful consequences of carrying a knife which is then used in the course of a senseless assault."
