"It was really tough today, conditions were really warm," said Murray. "I felt my feet burning but got great support today - they helped pull me through."
The previous two matches on the Vodafone Arena had been played under the retractable roof because of rain, but the sun had returned by the time Murray took to the court.
"I'd rather I was playing indoors," he admitted afterwards, "but I've done a lot of fitness training and hopefully it's going to pay off in these conditions.
"I'd definitely rather be playing indoors."
And looking ahead to his match with Chela, Murray said: "He's a really good player and it's going to be really difficult.
"He beat (Lleyton) Hewitt here last year but if I play my best and have good support from the crowd, maybe I can win this time."
