The funeral of 16-year-old boy who was shot dead outside a pub in Manchester will take place later.

Giuseppe Gregory was shot on 10 May as he sat in a car outside the Robin Hood pub in Stretford.

Police said the teenager was not part of a gang but had friends who were. His death was the first fatal shooting in the city for a year.

The funeral service will take place at St John Chrysostom Church, Anson Road in Longsight, at 1130 BST.

Ch Supt Janette McCormick has said the attack on Giuseppe could have been related to incidents that had taken place around the pub earlier that evening.

"We have no idea why this boy was attacked, we are following all lines of inquiry," she said.

Police revealed that Giuseppe, who lived in Ardwick with his mother, had been shot in the leg at the age of 13.
