Yemen fishing boat 'sunk by warship'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/world/middle_east/8070116.stm Version 0 of 1. Yemen says an international warship carrying out anti-piracy patrols in the Red Sea has opened fire on a Yemeni fishing boat, killing two men on board. A third fisherman was critically injured by the missile attack near Sudanese territorial waters, and a fourth is unaccounted for. The official Yemeni news agency said the boat was totally destroyed. International patrols have been trying to curb hijackings by Somali pirates, who attack ships and take hostages. More than 100 ships have been attacked so far in 2009 and some 500 people have been taken hostage. It is not clear what flag the warship was flying. |
