Boy, 13, in court over stabbing

A 13-year-old boy is due in court later charged with the murder of another teenager in east London.

Promising young footballer Jahmal Mason-Blair, 17, from Dalston, was stabbed in the neck in Hackney, early on Saturday. He died at the scene.

The 13-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear before Redbridge Magistrates' Court.

Jahmal is the ninth teenager to be killed in violent circumstances in London this year.

He had been given a trial at Reading Football Club.
