Five held over cannabis factory

Police raided industrial premises on the outskirts of the village on Saturday and seized about 1,000 cannabis plants. They could have produced drugs worth about £750,000. Four men and a woman - Chong Cheng, Xian Hu, Awang An, Yun Lin and Wenxia Dong - all in their 30s and of no fixed address, were remanded in custody. They were charged with producing cannabis at the Broadmeadow Industrial Estate in Ecclefechan between 1 March and 22 May. They are also facing supply charges. The case was continued without plea. |
