Morrissey pulls out of more gigs Morrissey pulls out of more gigs
(2 days later)
Morrissey has cancelled another set of dates because of illness, just days after returning to the stage to mark his 50th birthday. Former Smiths singer Morrissey has been forced to cancel yet another gig after doctors warned him not to sing.
Monday's concert in Salisbury and Tuesday's gig in Mile End, east London, have been called off. Thursday's concert at London's Brixton Academy has been shelved - the latest in a string of axed dates.
The singer has cancelled a number of dates since his world tour kicked off in February. "Morrissey is on continued doctor's orders not to sing, to ensure a complete recuperation," a statement from concert organisers said.
A spokeswoman apologised for the cancellations but said Morrissey had been warned by doctors not to sing. They also apologised to fans, adding they were working to reschedule the cancelled dates.
"Morrissey is on doctor's orders to postpone the show, to ensure a complete recuperation," she said. Ticket holders have been advised to hang on to them and wait for further announcements.
"Event organisers would like to apologise to fans for the disappointment and are working to reschedule this show, so advise ticket holders to hang on to their tickets." Concerts in Salisbury and Mile End, east London, have already been called off this week.
It is not yet known whether three concerts scheduled for London's Brixton Academy over the weekend will go ahead. The cancellations come days after the star returned to the stage to mark his 50th birthday.
Morrissey has already been forced to reschedule dates for Birmingham's Symphony Hall and London's Royal Albert Hall for October. During the homecoming gig in Manchester he appeared in good spirits, chatting to the audience and singing Smiths hits as well as his solo material.
