Version 0 of 1.

Eight people, including two children, have been rescued from a blaze at a block of flats in Lanark.

Emergency services arrived at the three-storey building in the Kingsmyre area at about 2300 BST on Friday.

A Strathclyde Fire Service spokesman said six people were treated at the scene by firefighters and paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The fire broke out in a bin storage area. The police said it was too early to say if it was started deliberately.
