Version 0 of 1.

A 10-year-old girl and her parents have been confirmed as Scotland's latest swine flu cases.

The family, from the Stirling area, had recently returned from holiday in Florida.

Health officials revealed on Thursday that the family were being investigated after developing "mild" symptoms.

The total number of confirmed H1N1 flu cases in Scotland now stands at 13. A further "possible" case in Fife is still being investigated.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said the girl and her 39-year-old mother and 43-year-old father were being closely monitored at home, and were receiving treatment.

'Sensible precautions'

She said that since returning home, the child has not been to school. Close contacts of the whole family are being traced and assessed, as are nearby passengers on their return flight.

Ms Sturgeon said: "All sensible precautions have been taken to contain the potential spread of infection.

"So far we have been successful in preventing any large-scale onward spread to the general population.

"It is testimony to the hard work of staff in our NHS and Health Protection Scotland that possible cases are being isolated quickly and their contacts traced.

"I would like to again pay tribute to their outstanding efforts to stop the spread of this virus and to the level-headedness of the public in their response to this situation."
