Conservative MP Andrew MacKay who quit as an aide to David Cameron over an "unacceptable" expenses claim is set for a grilling from constituents.

More than 350 tickets have been requested for the public meeting with the Bracknell member from 1900 BST at the Kerith Centre.

Mr MacKay, who is married to Tory MP Julie Kirkbride, claimed second homes allowances on two separate properties.

The MP has since apologised but vowed to stand at the next general election.

A spokeswoman for his constituency office said: "I think we have about 350 enquiries and we have a capacity of about 500.

"The event is ticket only, people can still ring today and they will have their name at the door, but they are only available to constituents."

She said the meeting is expected to last for about an hour with Mr MacKay fielding questions on any subject.

The Conservative Party said last week a review of his expense claims revealed "an unacceptable situation that would not stand up to reasonable public scrutiny".

Mr Cameron said Mr MacKay will go before scrutiny to determine how much money he needs to repay.
