Victim 'edgy' Mr Sonnex, from Peckham, south London, who admitted one count of burglary at the property, had previously said he had never been in the flat but said he decided to be "truthful" to the jury.
Mr Sonnex, from Peckham, south London, who admitted one count of burglary at the property, had previously said he had never been in the flat. They targeted the Sterling Gardens flat where a window open, Mr Sonnex said, he waited outside as Mr Farmer went in.
He told the court Mr Ferez was "edgy" and kept speaking in French while Mr Bonomo, who was bound by Mr Farmer, talked about his girlfriend. 'Heard voices'
The court heard Mr Ferez was "very edgy" while Mr Bonomo talked about his girlfriend as Mr Farmer bound him.
Mr Sonnex said: "I heard some shuffling and I heard some voices and the voices began to get louder- it was my friend's voice. He said 'D, D, come in and give me a hand, I need a hand'. I went in the window.
"To my right there is Gabriel Ferez. He was sitting on the futon, he had his pants on, talking French very, very loudly.
"My friend had Laurent Bonomo. He had his hand around his neck, pushing his head on the pillow of the bed, aggressively saying, 'stay down, stay down'.
"Gabriel Ferez was just sitting there, very, very edgy, speaking loudly. He was very edgy, like he wanted to get up."
Mr Sonnex said he and Mr Farmer had been drinking and taking drugsMr Sonnex said he and Mr Farmer had been drinking and taking drugs
Mr Sonnex said: "My friend kept saying to him, 'think about your girlfriend and everything will be all right'." He said Mr Farmer ordered him to "grab" Mr Ferez.
He and Mr Farmer, who does not have a fixed address, had been drinking and taking marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy on the evening leading up to the murders of the students, he told the court. "I grabbed him by his neck and he complied," Mr Sonnex told the court.
The jury heard both men, who were selling cocaine, were "angry" at being robbed and wanted to recover the money by carrying out a burglary. By then Mr Farmer had started punching Mr Bonomo in the face, he said.
"Laurent Bonomo was really, really, really putting up a struggle, and he started to punch him numerous amounts of times, I don't know how many, it was about 10 seconds, 15 seconds," Mr Sonnex said.
The jury heard that he and Mr Farmer had carried out several burglaries where Mr Sonnex acted as a lookout.
The court heard how Mr Sonnex had been out of prison on licence after being convicted of robbery and wounding with intent in 2003.
Mr Sonnex said he and Mr Farmer had been drinking and taking marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy the evening before the murders but had been robbed while selling cocaine, which had "angered" them.
Mr Farmer then suggested carrying out a burglary to get their money back, Mr Sonnex told the court.
