Woman remanded over boy's death

A woman accused of killing a boy aged 11 as he walked home from a church youth group has reappeared in court.

Hannah Saaf, 27, faced Bristol Crown Court via a video link on Tuesday.

Ms Saaf, of St Michael's Hill, Kingsdown, is charged with causing the death of Sam Riddall by dangerous driving, and other motoring offences.

The Recorder of Bristol, Judge Tom Crowther QC, remanded her in custody to Eastwood Park prison and adjourned the case until 17 August.

The boy died when he was knocked over by a car after leaving his church youth club at Henleaze and Westbury Community Church in Eastfield Road, Bristol, on 1 May.

Ms Saaf, wearing a grey blouse and grey suit, spoke only to confirm her identity and did not enter a plea.

She also faces charges of failing to stop at an accident, failing to report an accident, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
