Woman raped in home by intruder

A 62-year-old woman has been raped by an intruder in her north Belfast home.

The attacker forced his way into her home in the Cliftonville Road area early on Saturday, after the woman answered a knock at the door.

He subjected her to a prolonged assault before making off, police believe, in the direction of Cliftonville Circus.

Police said she was severely traumatised by her ordeal. The attacker is believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s, slim with short dark hair.

He was wearing blue jeans, a grey jacket and a white and pink striped T-shirt.

Detectives from the PSNI Rape Crime Unit have appealed for information.
