Two-tonne bull rescued from well

Fire crews took more than two hours to rescue a bull which fell upside down into a well at a farm.

The two-tonne animal, nicknamed Maccy D, fell at Hill Farm in Belbroughton, Worcestershire, on Friday.

His owner, Alan Fairbairn, said the bull was a "bit knocked around" but he had come out "all right".

"We knew there was a well in front of the old farmhouse, but we didn't know quite how big or where exactly it was," he said.

"Luckily we got a head collar on him and got his head above water and then rang for the fire brigade.

"The vet was here as well ready to sedate him, but in the end we didn't do that, because he'd have just gone to sleep and made life hard for ourselves."
