Mr Jones, a writer and speaker on international banking, finance, and taxation, was born and raised in north Wales but had lived in Peterston-Super-Ely near Cardiff before he moved to the Caribbean.
He worked in the finance sector before setting up his own business, Britannia Investment, and had been described as a "mover and shaker" on the local business scene.
'Random target' | |
He was a former director of The Bankers Association of The Bahamas and The Bahamas Institute of Bankers.
Royal Bahamas Police have launched a murder investigation following Mr Jones's death. Assistant Supt Leon Bethel had previously said he believed Mr Jones was not a "random target".
However police had said they believed many witnesses were too scared to come forward with information.
It is understood police were also looking into a previous incident a few months ago when two men broke into Mr Jones's home.
The Times Online reported Mr Jones had told a journalist friend in Miami weeks before the shooting that he had been beaten up by two people a few weeks earlier and consequently feared for his safety.
'Disputes' | |
The Bahama Journal has carried a tribute to Mr Jones by a former business associate, the former Bahamas MP, Lester Turnquest.
The two were involved in a civil suit against each other after Mr Turnquest severed ties with Britannia Limited two years ago.
Mr Turnquest was reported as saying: "We have not spoken for a number of years. He and I were litigating against each other, but that's a part of business, that's how business disputes are resolved.
"I am saddened by it, it bothers me and I certainly would not want anyone to have to go through that." |
