'Modest' Beckham home to be sold Beckham home auction plan fails
(about 4 hours later)
David Beckham's modest childhood home is to be auctioned later, with the owners hoping it will reach at least £500,000. The owners of David Beckham's modest childhood home have withdrawn the property from an auction.
Estate agent Colin Evans had previously listed the three-bedroomed terraced house in Norman Road, Leytonstone, east London, on a website for £850,000. They were hoping the "brand Beckham" effect would see the three-bedroom terraced house in, Leytonstone, east London, sell for upwards of £500,000.
However, the property is now being sold later by auctioneers Savills under a guide price of £215,000. However, the Norman Road property failed to attract any bids above the guide price of £215,000 and was withdrawn.
But Mr Evans said there was international interest in the sale. Estate agent Colin Evans said he still believed a buyer would be found.
He said: "I am looking at breaking £500,000. I am sure it will." He said: "My faith in 'brand Beckham' is 100% still. The main thing is that he is bigger than most people around the world."
Mr Evans added that there had been interest from Monaco and China in the property. Mr Evans also insisted that he could still get double the market value of the property or more.
He added: "It is 'brand Beckham'. He previously listed the house on a website for £850,000.
"If you were selling his shoelaces, it would make money." Book planned
